Lazer Lamps has always prided itself on the design, engineering, and manufacture of high performance driving lights, that met the exacting requirements of the highest levels of professional motorsport. That’s as true today as it was when the business was founded back in 2010, when the technical and performance gains from LED technology were far less obvious. As we get ready to welcome the new era of hybrid rally cars with the running of the 2022 WRC season opener at Rallye Monte-Carlo, it seems fitting that the rally community around the world will get the first glimpse of our 3rd Generation Carbon Series LED spotlights.

With such a wide range of high performance LED driving lights in our repertoire it is no surprise that the variety of vehicles they are fitted to is equally as wide. Our low-profile Linear range in particular is well-suited to being fitted to vehicles where space is a premium, such as Snowmobiles, ATVs, Quads and even Motorbikes. But we do also have customers who have successfully fitted ST Evolution, Triple-R and Utility Series lights to these and benefitted from the huge increase in illumination. Which is a big benefit away from urban areas, off road, or off-piste.

Originally developed by Bosch in the 1980s, CAN (Control Area Network) is a robust system which enables high-speed communications and signals between different systems on a vehicle without the need for complex wiring. An increasing number of manufacturers utilise CAN Bus for managing systems such as lighting, heating, instrumentation, suspension, braking and engine control with separate ECUs which can be linked with a single pair of wires, thus drastically cutting down the total amount of wiring required within a vehicle.

Fitting auxiliary lights to a rally car has been around almost since the very first cars started racing. In bad weather, low light conditions and night stages, rally drivers need better visibility of the road ahead and a clear view of the track. The first auxiliary rally car lights were simply additional headlights mounted across the front of the grille or over the bonnet. Look back to rally cars of the 70s and 80s and the traditional bonnet mounted lights became iconic, to the extent that the Lancia Stratos looks positively naked without the four extra rally lights mounted to the front edge of the bonnet.
